Marriage Redefined

Marriage is the foundation of a family, and a family is a small church of Christ. It is the family that is the meaning and purpose of marriage.

Marriage was established by God and he designed someone to be “in charge” and someone to ‘help’. Someone to be, as it were in ‘authority’ and someone to be in ‘submission’ Someone to be the ‘leader’ and someone to be the ‘follower’ Someone to ‘take care’ of God’s provision and some someone to be ‘provided for’.

So in the beginning the man had the role of leadership and the woman had the role of the one for whom the headship provided for. The man was the one who protected, provided, preserved and cared for the woman who was a suitable helper for him. So God designed an incredible union. There is a leader and the one who follows the lead. The man has the oversight and responsibility and the woman is under the responsibility.

God created man and woman in His image and designed them to function in a certain way that will bring glory to His name. Anything less that way distorts His image, defeats His intention and limits our effectiveness as His servants. In order to claim a successful marriage, a couple must; stay focused on their firm commitment to keep the marriage covenant and to adhere at all cost the foundational values and beliefs - of which the marriage has been built upon from its beginning. The strongest marriages will always begin first, with God as our foundation, upon which if we apply his teachings in our lives - will then bless us with that successful marriage of which we all desire - and a true love, that has endured many things - and will continue to do so, come what may.

A home established on gospel principles is a place of refuge and safety, where the Spirit of the Lord can abide, blessing family members with peace, joy and happiness. A marriage without Christ can never experience the spiritual bonding God brings to relationships. It is good to be married. God created marriage for our enjoyment and He pronounced it good. Therefore, those of you who are contemplating to marry should not make the mistake of leaving God out of your life in choosing your life partner. If you do, all your accomplishment and goal will be futile. Make God your highest priority and let Him guide you to make the right choice and also partner with you in building a long lasting and successful marriage.
